The Finance Business Partner (FBP) is responsible for defining, implementing, and driving the financial strategy of the business to ensure sustainable profitability, strong cash flow, and effective risk management.
The role has a strong business partnering focus, providing financial leadership, insight, and challenge to senior stakeholders to support sound decision-making and operational excellence. The FBP plays a critical leadership role in strategy execution, pricing, performance management, investment evaluation, and financial governance.
Key Responsibilities
1. Business Partnering & Strategic Support
- Act as a trusted finance partner to the General Manager and Leadership Team.
- Review business performance, identify risks and opportunities, challenge assumptions, and recommend value-adding solutions.
- Convert complex financial and operational data into actionable insights.
- Identify and drive value creation initiatives through data analysis and performance interrogation.
- Present financial and functional performance at executive and leadership meetings.
2. Financial Planning, Reporting & Performance Management
- Accountable for monthly management reporting, budgets, forecasts, and long-range plans.
- Lead the rolling forecast, business planning, and strategy review processes.
- Prepare and present Monthly Business Reviews with clear variance analysis and insights.
- Analyse revenue, cost drivers, margins, and profitability (including REBITDA).
- Support top-line and bottom-line growth through pricing, profitability, and cost optimisation initiatives.
- Monitor and optimise working capital, cash flow, and overall financial position.
3. Pricing, Costing & Investment Analysis
- Lead pricing and costing analysis for new initiatives, products, and business ventures.
- Perform financial evaluations of capital expenditure, investments, and strategic projects.
- Conduct strategic analysis of potential acquisitions, joint ventures, and major capital investments.
- Actively participate in production planning reviews and monitor price variance evolution.
4. Leadership & People Management
- Lead, coach, and develop the finance team, providing clear direction and performance expectations.
- Foster a high-performance, inclusive, and engaged team culture.
- Act as a role model for leadership behaviours, integrity, and accountability.
- Support talent development, succession planning, and capability building within the finance function.
5. Governance, Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure strong financial governance, internal controls, and risk management frameworks are in place.
- Ensure compliance with IFRS, tax, legislative, and statutory requirements.
- Lead internal and external audit processes.
- Oversee credit control, tax compliance, and insurance requirements.
- Drive continuous improvement in financial processes and internal controls to minimise risk and financial loss.
6. Commercial & Market Insight
- Maintain awareness of market trends, competitor activity, and industry developments.
- Provide commercial insight to support strategic decision-making and competitive positioning.
- Identify and track cost-saving and efficiency improvement opportunities across the business.
7. Environment, Health, Safety & Quality
- Actively promote and comply with Environmental, Health, Safety, and Wellbeing standards.
- Ensure adherence to quality management systems, policies, and procedures.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality and customer satisfaction.
8. General
- Participate in cross-functional projects and leadership forums.
- Perform additional duties as reasonably required within the scope of the role.
