Job Description:

We are looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Procurement Assistant to support the procurement team with sourcing, purchasing, and supplier management activities. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the timely and cost-effective acquisition of goods and services while maintaining accurate records and compliance with company policies.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in sourcing suppliers and obtaining competitive quotations.
  • Process purchase orders and ensure timely approval.
  • Maintain accurate records of suppliers, products, and pricing.
  • Track orders and ensure timely delivery of goods and services.
  • Communicate with suppliers to confirm order details, resolve discrepancies, and follow up on outstanding items.
  • Support the negotiation of pricing, terms, and contracts with suppliers.
  • Assist in monitoring stock levels and coordinate with relevant departments to replenish as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with procurement policies and procedures.
  • Assist with preparing procurement reports and documentation.
  • Provide administrative support to the procurement team as required.

Key Requirements

  • Minimum qualification: Matric/Grade 12 (a diploma/degree in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, or a related field will be advantageous).
  • Proven experience as a Procurement Assistant, Purchasing Clerk, or in a similar role (advantageous but not always required for entry-level).
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping.
  • Good communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook); experience with ERP/Procurement systems will be an advantage.
  • Strong teamwork and problem-solving abilities.
