FT Contract - Fitter and Turner - Vanderbijl - South Africa

Role Summary (Purpose)

• To conduct maintenance operation activities during the shift to achieve production targets.

Key Work Outputs and Accountabilities

• Attend to mechanical breakdowns 
• Carry out planned and preventative maintenance as per job cards.  Inspect equipment for defects 
• Obey all safety rules and housekeeping standards as per company SHE policies. 
• Implement mechanical projects as per project guidelines. 
• Strip machine, machining spares and assemble. 
• Carry out any other reasonable task requested by foreman.
• Coordinating with the production department for feedback on the functionality of machinery and equipment 
• Providing specialised engineering technical services to engineering and production teams 
• Use experience and knowledge in innovative ways to solve problems 
• Ensure the availability of machinery 
• Perform daily safety and maintenance checks 
• Rectify problems identified in routine inspections 
• Comply with company policies and procedures. 
• Advise the responsible Mechanical Engineering Foreman of any unsafe conditions 
• Participate in routine workplace safety activities Align and calibrate machinery and equipment parts as required for efficient and safe operation

Qualifications, Experience, Skills / Knowledge

• Qualified artisan with a Red Seal Certificate.
• At least 5 years in a similar position / 5 years as an artisan 

Skills / Knowledge

• Knowledge of Maintenance of Gas Equipment. 
• Good communication and interpersonal skills 
• Ability to interpret blueprints
