  • The Technical Draughtsman is a highly skilled and pivotal role within Studio Crafted Kitchens and Cabinetry, responsible for translating client concepts and project briefs into precise, detailed, and manufacturable plans.
  • This position is the technical engine of our design process, creating a comprehensive suite of drawings for every project.

 

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Interpret project briefs, client requirements, and initial design concepts to develop detailed drawings.
  • Using CABINET VISION, create individual units and designs for client presentations and internal reviews.
  • Produce precise 2D technical drawings for all manufactured components, including joinery, cabinetry.
  • Develop comprehensive factory drawings that provide clear and unambiguous instructions for the production teams, including dimensions, materials, and assembly methods.
  • Ensure all drawings adhere to company standards, industry best practices, and project specifications.

 

Technical Specification and Communication

  • Work closely with Project Managers to understand and clarify all technical aspects of a project.
  • Communicate directly with clients, when required, to discuss design details and gain approval on drawings.
  • Liaise with THE Production Manager to ensure that drawings are practical, manufacturable, and optimized for our specific machinery and processes.
  • Ensure all technical specifications for materials, finishes, and hardware are clearly and completely noted on the drawings.
  • Material Requisition
  • From the final approved drawings, generate accurate and detailed bills of materials (BOMs) or order requisitions.

Desired Experience & Qualification

  • Matric certificate (Grade 12) or equivalent
  • Design Qualification would be advantageous
  • Proven experience (5 – 10 years) in a similar role in a manufacturing environment, shopfitting/wood factory would be advantageous.
  • Experience using 2D, 3D CAD models, cabinetry design software, e.g. CabinetVision, Winner, Fusion, etc
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to work independently.
