  • The Maintenance Planner is responsible for planning, scheduling, and coordinating all preventative, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities within Plant 2.
  • The role ensures maximum equipment uptime, improved reliability, reduced downtime, and compliance with safety and quality standards in a high-volume automotive spring manufacturing environment.
  • This role is critical in supporting production efficiency and meeting strict OEM quality and delivery standards.

 

Key Performance Areas

Maintenance Planning & Scheduling

  • Develop and maintain detailed maintenance plans for all plant equipment.
  • Schedule preventative and predictive maintenance activities to minimize production disruption.
  • Prioritize reactive work orders in coordination with production.
  • Prepare job plans including labour, tools, parts, permits, and safety requirements.
  • Maintain and update the CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System).

Equipment Reliability & Continuous Improvement

  • Support root cause analysis (RCA) for recurring breakdowns.
  • Drive improvements in equipment reliability and MTBF (Mean Time Between Failures).
  • Assist in developing predictive maintenance strategies.
  • Participate in TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) initiatives.

Spare Parts & Inventory Control

  • Identify critical spares and ensure appropriate stock levels.
  • Work with procurement to source parts cost-effectively.
  • Monitor parts usage and reduce emergency purchases.

Coordination & Communication

  • Liaise daily with Production, Engineering, and Quality teams.
  • Coordinate contractors and external service providers.
  • Provide clear weekly maintenance schedules to stakeholders.
  • Report KPIs including downtime, schedule compliance, and backlog.

Compliance & Safety

  • Ensure all maintenance work complies with HSE standards.
  • Support risk assessments and safe systems of work.
  • Ensure statutory inspections and certifications are completed on time

  • Heat treatment furnaces
  • Shot blasting equipment
  • Presses and forming machines
  • Conveyors and automated handling systems
  • Hydraulic and pneumatic systems

 

Budgeting & Cost Control

  • Assist in the preparation of the annual maintenance budget.
  • Monitor and control maintenance expenditure against approved budgets.
  • Track labour, contractor, and spare parts costs.
  • Provide monthly cost reports and variance analysis to management.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising safety or reliability.
  • Support capital expenditure planning for equipment upgrades or replacements.
  • Reduce emergency spending through improved planning and forecasting.

Qualifications & Experience
Essential:

  • Diploma/Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent experience).
  • 3–5 years’ experience in maintenance planning within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience working in automotive or heavy engineering preferred.
  • Strong CMMS experience.
  • Good understanding of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.

Desirable:

  • Automotive industry experience (OEM stan dards).
  • Knowledge of IATF 16949 requirements.
  • Lean Manufacturing or TPM exposure.
  • Project management experience.
