JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Set up and operate a variety of machine tools to produce precision parts and instruments.
Sound knowledge of machine tools and their various aspects including speeds and feeds for different material types
In depth understanding of technical drawings and design techniques (blueprint reading)
Adjust and operate machines in complete accordance with given blueprints
Excellent ability to adjust machines to exact positions quickly
Determine setup procedures, machining sequence and dimensions of finished work pieces.
Position and secure work pieces in fixtures according to setup instructions.
Conventional machining a requirement (Boring mills, Lathes)
It would be advantageous to be able to set a job on a CNC machine and read, run and adjust a programme
Measure dimensions of finished work pieces to ensure conformance to specifications using precision measuring tools
Measure dimensions of parts using instruments like Vernier calipers and micrometre screw gauge (very close tolerance)
Clean and lubricate machines, tools, and equipment to remove grease, rust, stains, and foreign matter (repair and maint)
Work with minimum supervision
