Brief Description of Key Performance Areas:

Own a portfolio of mine accounts end to end. Visit sites weekly, build relationships with engineering managers, maintenance planners, buyers and stores, and become the supplier they call first.

Drive the full sales cycle. Identify the need, quote within authority, follow up, negotiate and close. Convert standing pipeline into purchase orders and chase outstanding orders to delivery and invoice. 

Hit revenue and gross profit targets. Work to a monthly revenue target and a branch gross profit floor. No quote goes out below the floor without Branch Manager approval. Track and improve your own strike rate.

Register and operate on client procurement portals. Get the company listed and active on mine vendor systems such as Coupa, SAP Ariba and the mine SMME portals, and keep registrations current.

Sell the company's solution, not the lowest price.

Position Total Fluid Management, fluid condition monitoring and ISO 4406 oil cleanliness, total cost of ownership and the community SMME and B-BBEE value, so we compete on value rather than on hose price alone. 

Manage handovers and continuity. Take clean handover of existing accounts, quotes and order history, and keep account records so nothing is lost between visits. 

Support tenders and proposals. Feed accurate site information into branch tender submissions and presentations and represent the company professionally in client meetings up to CEO and procurement level.

Work safely on every site. Comply with the Mine Health and Safety Act and each mine site induction, medical and access requirement at all times.

Minimum skills and knowledge:

Grade 12. 

A proven track record in technical or industrial sales, ideally three to five years, with evidence of meeting or beating revenue and margin targets.

Sectors such as hydraulics, pneumatics, fluid power, industrial consumables, bearings, mining supply or capital equipment are all relevant. 

Valid Code 08 (B) driver licence and own reliable transport. 

Computer literacy, MS Office and comfort with quoting and CRM or ERP systems.

Willing and medically able to be inducted and to work on underground and surface mine sites. 

Behavioural Dimensions Required:

Must be customer orientated, proven sales ability, dynamic, motivated and results driven, must have excellent negotiation and communication skills, good general administration skills. 

Motivated and must pay attention to detail.

Mature and responsible individual with good time keeping skills. 

Have an understanding of the Hydraulics and Pneumatics market. 

Must be neat and presentable person with good hygiene. 

Must be reliable with ethical values. 

Must be able to work under pressure

Advantageous:

Existing relationships with mines in the chrome and platinum corridor. 

Working knowledge of hydraulic cylinders, power packs, pumps, valves, hoses, fittings or filtration. Where this is light, the branch will train the right salesperson. 

A technical, trade or fluid power background, or a relevant diploma or certificate.

Candidates from the local mining communities, in line with our SMME and B-BBEE development model. 

Experience selling into or registering on mine procurement portals.
