- Operate open roll mills and other rubber mixing/compounding equipment safely and efficiently
- Weigh, measure, and prepare raw materials, polymers, chemicals, fillers, and additives according to specified formulations
- Follow approved batch recipes, mixing sequences, temperatures, times, and processing specifications
- Load raw materials into mixing equipment in the correct quantities and sequence
- Monitor the mixing process and make permitted adjustments to ensure the required compound consistency and quality
- Remove, sheet, cut, and handle mixed rubber compounds safely after completion of the mixing process
- Ensure that each batch is correctly identified, labelled, recorded, and traceable
- Conduct basic visual inspections of rubber compounds and identify abnormalities, contamination, incorrect consistency, or other quality concerns
- Report any defective materials, incorrect formulations, equipment problems, or deviations from specifications immediately
- Complete all required batch sheets, production records, material usage records, and quality documentation accurately
- Minimise material waste and ensure the correct and responsible use of raw materials
- Maintain good housekeeping and keep mixing equipment and surrounding work areas clean and organised
- Clean machinery and equipment between batches where required to prevent contamination
- Perform basic equipment inspections before operation and report maintenance requirements, damage, or unsafe conditions
- Assist with routine maintenance and cleaning of open roll mills and associated equipment as required
- Comply with all company health, safety, environmental, and quality procedures
- Correctly use all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when handling machinery, chemicals, and raw materials
- Follow all safety procedures relating to the operation of open roll mills, including emergency stops and machine guarding
- Work closely with Production, Quality, and Maintenance personnel to resolve production or quality-related issues
- Meet required production targets while maintaining the required quality and safety standards
- Perform any other reasonable production related duties as instructed by Management

- Previous experience in a rubber manufacturing, rubber mixing, compounding, or similar production environment will be advantageous
- Experience operating an open roll mill or similar industrial mixing machinery will be highly advantageous
- Ability to accurately weigh and measure materials
- Ability to follow written formulations, batch instructions, and production specifications
- Basic numeracy and record-keeping skills
- Good understanding of workplace health and safety requirements
- Ability to perform physically demanding work and safely handle raw materials
- Willingness to work shifts and overtime where operationally required
- Ability to follow instructions and procedures precisely
- Quality-focused and able to identify abnormalities
- Good housekeeping and organisational skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a production team
- Responsible handling of materials, chemicals, machinery, and company equipment
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
