Permanent - Food Technology Manager - Johannesburg - South Africa

• Maintains FSSC 22000, cGMPs, Halaal, FDA, and other management systems in place.
• Oversee Quality Control SOPs
• Effectively Supervise personnel assigned
• Act as technical representative for all in-house audits by certifying bodies, customers, or regulatory authorities.
• Conduct internal audits for compliance to regulations and procedures.
• Oversee raw materials to ensure vendor compliance with specifications.
• Assist in the non-conformance investigation and resolution in the Corrective Action System any products and procedures that do not meet specifications.
• Maintain customer product specifications and assist in evaluation of new customer specifications.
• Assist in completion of Change Control activities for the facility.
• Responsible for effectively and professionally working with customers when required.
• Assist total company Quality Assurance in carrying out yearly Mock Recalls.
• Assist in the resolution of customer complaints.
• As required, inspect, test, and monitor current production in accordance with established procedures to assure compliance to required specifications; report findings to appropriate personnel for needed changes or adjustments.
• Assist with completion of reports requested by management
• Ensure all areas of responsibility are compliance with GMP and Food safety policy’s
• Ability to learn and comprehend a wide variety of processing methods to assure compliance with established processing procedures.
• Ability to effectively communicate complex information, both orally and in writing.
• Ability to work effectively and objectively with production personnel. Must demonstrate a willingness to seek, objectively and constructively, the opinions of superiors or other assigned appropriate staff to resolve differences and provide guidance
• Ability to operate basic plant, lab, and office equipment, including computers, telephones, fax machines, and copiers
• Responsible for sending samples for the release of products where applicable

Education and Pertinent/Experience:

• The minimum requirements for education and experience are listed below. Consideration will be given to individuals with an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Bachelor’s Degree/ Tertiary qualification in science, food science, or other related field with three to five years related work experience in a food-processing / pharmaceutical environment. A diploma in a science field with three to six years may provide an equivalent combination of education and experience.
