Responsible for the Start-up as well as implementing of systems on the project also maintaining the new set system and ensuring that all contractors comply with Simba’s Health & Safety specifications for the construction period.
Overseeing the whole project at Simba ensuring legal compliance with regard to Principal and sub-contractors.
Drawing up Risk assessments, method statements and safe work procedures.
Attending and ensuring that all the daily safety tasks instructions are conducted by supervision, investigations of all near miss incidents and accidents.
Interfacing with other contractors to reduce risk on construction site.
Daily inspection at all working areas on project.
Ensuring that monthly safety rep inspections are conducted.
Daily and Monthly SHE meetings are held. Ensuring that sub- contractors comply with all Simba Standards before they come on site to do their work.
Ensuring that all new employees coming on site go through induction and medical before they are allowed to even go on site.
Schedule training as required. Implementation of standards and maintaining it.
Daily client meetings taking corrective action, ensuring all deviations are adhered to.
Ensure that monthly stats are sent to head office on time.
Train new employees on emergency procedures and the use of fire fighting equipment.
Continuous feedback to management with regard to status on site.
Weekly feedback to the client with regard to man hours and employee information (HR) related.

Overseeing four sites with the implementation of OSHAS 18001.
Site visits on regular basis to ensure that all sites comply to legal requirements.
Continuous feedback to group SHEQ Manager at head office with regard to the status of the sites.
On the job coaching of Safety Officers on site.
Participate with internal audits conducted on the various sites.
Ensure that all Non-conformances are closed out within reasonable time.
Conduct performance appraisals on all safety personnel.
Monitoring of all weekly and monthly reports before sending it through to head office.
Ensure that ZERO tolerance are maintained at all sites with regards to Safety.

Overseeing the expansion project for the client (Taranga Gold). Ensure that all contractors comply with the requirements of the mine. Conduct regular audits on the sub-contractors. Ensure that all new contractors coming to site undergo pre-medicals and at the end of the project conduct exit medicals. Coaching of local Senegal Safety Officers and train them on the requirements of safety in the work place. Attend client and contractor meetings and give regular feedback on the conditions with regard to Safety on the expansion project. Working closely with the emergency rescue team. Ensure that all procedures and documents are implemented and that contractors are working accordingly. Interfacing with process personnel to ensure that construction does not interfere with the process operations. Ensure legal compliance with regard to all activities on expansion project. Identify training needs and scheduling employees for safety training in order to equip all safety personnel and workers with the knowledge to perform their duties safely. Working with environmental officers to ensure that all legal requirements with regard to the environment are complied to.
